Blog 2: Why we fail to create and what you can do to fix it?

I like this blog because it talks about all the times we want to create blogs, videos or podcast but we don't do it because of our fears and doubts. The author explains why we let our fears stop us from doing it and offers us some ways to fix it to start living our dreams.

Social Media Opinion

I love the way technology has advanced in a short period of time and the way it allows the world to do anything. In the power point we learned about the transmission model which tells us how communication works in different types of arenas like interpersonal communication, small group, mass media and social media. Before social media, there was only one sender (TV, radio, newspaper, speaker) of a message and the audience which can be from one person to the whole world. The job was simple, the sender sends content through different types of mediums and the receiver gets the message, decodes it and send feedback if possible. Now with social media is more participatory because now anyone can be a creator of content and receive information at the same time. Social media has given us the tools to create whatever we want and show it to the world without the need of a big media company.

Connected but alone

Comment on Sherry Turkle video

I agree to what Sherry Turkle explains in the video. She mentioned something that I have realized some time ago. She said that in our time, technology is advancing very fast and it is starting to take control of our lives. Thanks to technology people is more connected to everywhere and everyone, but at the same time we are more disconnected than ever. Now we don’t want to have real conversations, we don’t want to make real connections with others, we want to feel that we belong to the world but just through a screen. The more we are connected with technology, the more we are isolated. We prefer having conversations by text than in person because that way we have control of what we are saying and what we are showing others about us. In a text you can think what you are going to say, you can edit, delete if you made a mistake and we like having that control. In a real conversation we don’t have that power. The world hate the idea of being alone, that is the reason why we are always in the smartphone trying to always be connected to feel less alone, but if we don’t learn how to be alone, we are going to be more lonely. Solitude is where we find ourselves and once we learn how to do that, we can have better relationships with others. I think that in order to be more connected to the real world, we need to learn how to disconnect from technology and find ourselves in the process. Use technology as a tool that helps us learn, create and work.
